Past Courses

The VDI presented 3 different courses during the period 1 March 2018 to 28 February 2019, namely.

1. Combating Soil Erosion (120 training days)
2. Alien Eradication (60 training days)
3. Entrepreneurship (180 training days)

A total of 74 certificates were handed to 47 learners on 6 December. In total 360 learner days were achieved, and courses were attended by learners from Van Wyksdorp, Ladismith, Oudtshoorn, Riversdale, Barrydale, George and Joubertinia.

28% of the recipients were female learners were and 2% were disabled learners.

The courses completed thus far have provided learners with some practical and implementable tools with success stories including:

• A in Oudtshoorn: Restructured her business and is applying the knowledge and skills she learned from attending the Entrepreneurship course to grow her business. She is currently investigating export opportunities to the EU.
• B from Vanwyksdorp was unemployed and started her own painting business whereby she sub-contracts to building contractors where she can further her practical skills knowledge.
• C in Oudtshoorn started her own fast food caravan which she operates during weekends, whilst still keeping her fulltime job.
