Duration:

The course is over a period of three (3) days. One day theoretical training and two days practical training on site. Practical training also includes the operation of large industrial clearing machines such as saw, chopper and chipper (for mulching)

Course Outline:

Invasive Alien Plants (IAPs) are widely considered as a major threat to biodiversity, human livehoods and economic development. IAPs cost South Africans tens of billions of rand annually in lost agricultural productivity and resources spent on management. Learners will be taught how to combat this threat by:

  • Learning what IAPs are and where they come from
  • Understanding how to control them
  • Being equipped to correctly manage the Health and Safety aspects of working with the eradication methods
  • Knowing how to prevent re-occurrence
